Alphonse Allais does not exist. More precisely, a real-life Alphonse Allais did exist, he was a French writer and artist, but this Alphonse Allais and live and well and gives his name to a project collecting some of the fruits of my musical activity. A small selection of home recordings, songs and music. Not necessarily what I regard as my best songs, and not even always great recordings, just something to give you an idea of what I do. All the songs are original, music and lyrics all mine, and all the instruments are played or programmed by me.
A song written for Zeta, layered guitars and a riff with thanks to REM and Aimee Mann.
A mini album waiting for a director, five songs for a pandemic.
Vague recollections of Antonin Artaud. And the desire still unfulfilled to write something microtonal.
A loop, MBV guitars, and lyrics inspired by the Decline of the American Empire.
Gillian Welch meets Thomas Hardy
Written for and then rejected by Mr Neon Demon himself, and now born again as a Peripheries song, and hint of prime early 80s Cure and lyrics from the end of the world.
